Lone Soldier Adoption

What is a lone soldier?

A lone soldier is defined as a serviceman or woman without immediate family in Israel.  Lone soldiers serve in regular units with their Israeli peers.  They have volunteered to serve in the IDF to protect the land of Israel and our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land.  They left the comforts of their home to do so.

Lone soldiers get support from the IDF and Israeli government ministries, but most of the time, it is not nearly enough to sustain themselves.

Through the Gelt Charitable Foundation, Inc., an IRS approved 501 C-3 Charitable foundation, I am very excited to inform you that we have adopted a lone soldier currently serving in the IDF.  It is our intent to give him a monthly stipend of $500.00 to relieve some of the financial burden associated with living in Israel during his service.  Our goal is to help offset some of his monthly expenses so he can focus when he’s on base and enjoy his time when he’s off base to better serve our land and our people.

We are humbled and thrilled to help make life a bit easier for this young soldier.  It is my hope and desire to use this as a model for other communities across the United States to adopt a local lone soldier in their community as well.

Our mission is to establish the “Adopt a Lone Soldier” program in as many communities as we can.  We will offer the platform including the website, payment processing, marketing and an introduction to the lone soldier(s) in your area, making it super easy for everyone to contribute and ultimately developing a successful outcome.

It is our responsibility to assist these fine young men and women fighting on the front lines for Eretz Yisroel and Am Yisroel.

It’s a win-win situation!

  • Lone soldiers will know that their community is grateful for their service. $500/month will make a huge difference in their life.
  • Donors will have an unbelievable connection to these brave heroes and their service.
  • Communities will feel a sense of Achdut (unity) as they are supporting a soldier together.

There are approximately 2,000 lone soldiers currently serving in the IDF from hundreds of cities throughout North America.

We want to help and ensure that these lone soldiers, who serve the whole 2 years and 8 months, will be stress free from any financial burden during and/or after their service.   The main focus for these brave heroes should be to train, serve and protect Israel and her people.  They shouldn’t worry about how they will pay their rent, pay their bills and buy their food for the month.  Lone soldiers go through enough traumatic experiences; they shouldn’t have to go through more.

This is why we are implementing the “Adopt a lone soldier” program.

Money you donate will go directly to a specific lone soldier from your community. You can choose the lone soldier you will be sponsoring.  Your donation will be anonymous; however, you will know exactly who you are donating to.  In addition, you will receive a picture of him or her along with his/her Hebrew name so you can pray for their safety and wellbeing throughout their service.
